QUEEN'S AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE 

JAC receives award in prestigious ceremony

 
JAC has been awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in a prestigious ceremony at the Oakwood Centre.
 
Accepting the awardThe award was presented by the Lord Lieutenant, The Hon Mrs Bayliss JP, in a moving ceremony attended by almost 100 JAC staff, volunteers and supporters. Sam Milligan, the Development Director of JAC, accepted the crystal trophy and certificate signed by the Queen from the Lord Lieutenant. The certificate was read out in full as part of the ceremony and included greetings from HM The Queen herself!
 
JAC received two nominations for the award,  one each from Woodley and Earley Town Councils, and is the only Berkshire winner. This prestigious national honour is the equivalent to the MBE. It sets the national benchmark for volunteering, and proves that the activities of the recipients have been judged to be of the highest standard.

Shelagh Flower, former Mayor of Woodley has said "I am really thrilled that JAC have been given the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. This prestigious award is well deserved and a just reward for the dedication and commitment shown by all those involved with JAC".

 
The certificate reads as follows:

JUST AROUND THE CORNER, giving hope to young people enabling them to make positiive choices through demonstrating love and acceptance

We being cognisant of the said group's outstanding voluntary work in the community and being desirous of showing Our Royal Favour do hereby confer upon it:

for voluntary service by groups in the community 2008

for such period as the group continues to provide it's current service and do herby give permission for the authorised emblem of the said Award to be displayed on the group's letterhead and other public material.
