The Link Visiting Scheme is a befriending service mainly to the over sixties throughout Wokingham Borough who for one reason or another find themselves in need of friendship and support. Perhaps due to illness or moving house, bereavement or disabilities we can find ourselves feeling far from friends and family and end up spending long periods of time on our own.

Yet meeting new people and developing new friendships is nearly always life-enhancing and you’re never too old to start. You can find new friends at every stage of life.

 

We aim to match volunteers with elderly people who would love to see a friendly face on a regular basis; perhaps once a week or once a fortnight for an hour or so. The Link works as a partnership between various churches in Wokingham Borough and Woodley Age Concern. It began as a community project at Woodley Baptist Church in December 1998 and broadened into a wider partnership in 2007. The majority of our funding is received from Wokingham Borough Council.
