Who we are

The Wokingham Green Care Farm Initiative is made up of a group of people from local Churches and charities, Wokingham Borough Council and Social Enterprise Berkshire. The Care Farm will provide therapy through horticultural and animal work, skills and work opportunities, family work, eco buildings and alternative energy projects. There will be opportunities to work with horses, poultry, bee-keeping, small animals and on allotments.

One of our partners, Just Around the Corner (JAC) Ltd, a detached Youth Work charity has been operating for over 10 years and has been part of the Wokingham Green Care Farm Initiative (WGCFI) since it started some 3 years ago. We have agreed that JAC should be the lead organisation in developing the farm to take advantage of its existing legal structure, the number of volunteers available, its secure and ongoing funding streams and our shared vision.

The aim of the WGCFI is to use agricultural, horticultural, leisure and business opportunities to bring health, well being, growth and maturity to the local community. The Care Farm will offer mentoring, training, work opportunities and counselling with particular emphasis towards the excluded and marginalised in society. People accessing the Care Farm will be encouraged to develop and grow to achieve their full potential.
